DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PRISON INMATES REGISTRY SYSTEM

Abstract

The adoption of sophisticated tools and technologies in every sector of the Nigerian society, has been reported to better the society and to reduce much human labor workforce. Electronic automated systems are being deployed in various government agencies, to aid the workforce. The unfair justice meted out to prison inmates after serving their due sentence has posed a serious challenge. Some unfortunate inmates spend their entire life under lock and key, due to poor management of their case files. On the other hand, the rest serve more jail term than they ought to, due to lack of accuracy in data management, data insecurity. This work focuses on the design and implementation of a Prison Inmates Registry System that will be functional in the identification and management of prison inmates. This system will provide a strong identity management for each inmate, and prevent the mismanagement of inmate information. The system will ensure that accuracy in information of inmates is maintained

The emergence and development of the internet, computers and other information technology resources in every little way affected human lives. It has greatly eased the way we do business, run our government and manage corporate data given the efficiency of the system

A prison or jail is a facility in which inmates are forcibly confined and denied a variety of dividends of freedom under the authority of the State as a form of punishment. The most common use of prisons is as part of a criminal justice system, in which individuals officially charged with or convicted of crimes are confined to a jail or prison until they are either brought to trial to determine their guilt or complete the period of incarceration they were sentenced to after being found guilty at their trial. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison, 2016/04/02)
