Abstract

The global community especially the technologically advanced word is striving to attain what has been global information age it is an age that is envisaged to go beyond the use of paper file and manual ways of keeping records like Nigeria have not been able to benefit much from this revolutionized age of information technology especially in the area of a computerized criminal record management system an electronic war of keeping criminal records gives you the opportunity to have a database design that can save cranial records and still quarry the database who today’s high performance computers criminal record can be access who just a click of the name and all saved information and photograph of the criminal will page up

11 BACKGROUND OF STUDY

Police provides safety to citizens it always remains steady for attesting any criminal who is a threat for the safety of society after registering the fir (first information report) from any citizen Police starts its work and on that basis it attests the criminals if proofs are found against them once the criminals  are attested police stairs investigation  from them After getting all the proofs against the criminal it is the duty of the police to present all the proofs honestly to the court so that the right man can get right punishment the true and right information provided by the  people to police helps a lot in  punishment the true and right information  provided by the people to police helps a lot in attesting the criminals who try to spoil the  peaceful environment of society along with low salary facilities of modem technology such as computerized system of keeping records are not provided to police department which causes low efficiency as it is the age of computers and all the organizations today use computers to maintain their records so this facility should also be given to police department in order to increase their efficiency and to save their time in this study we are going to implement a CRMS  ( criminal record management system ) this is a database system in which police will keep the record of criminals who have been attested to be attested escaped . This will help the help the police department to manage their records easily in polices system when an incident occurs a petitioner reports an fir (fist information report) police starts investigation according to law on this fir an investigation officer supervises the investigation process concerning people in the whole process are petitioner (the person who files an fir) victim accused /criminal investigation officer CRMS will keep the record of them

1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

In Nigeria security is first that should be carefully attempt to the security in the country is very poor because o the lack of it (information technology)

How can this problem be solved which method should the police force upgrade to the following problem are going to be look into

: Transformation of manual record keeping to a computerized operation

: creating a database for criminals information

1.4 PURPOSE OF STUDY

The purpose of this study is to aid the Nigeria police force carry our their duty efficiently faster more comfortable and of course in a more modernized ways the aims and object of this project to design a computerized criminal record management system the project has been planned to have the form of distributed architecture with centralized storage database to improve on the speed and effectiveness, efficiency and  conveniences in operations the standards of security and data protective mechanism have been given big choice for paper usage the software is to enhance and modernize the operations of the Nigeria police force

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY

Moving from the old manual file keeping to a more modernized and significant way of keeping records using CRMS

this project covers the Nigeria police station the application of this software is only limited to police station alone to efficiently pilot the affairs in a more modernize and computerize way this database management system cannot be access online

the development of this work was not an easy task the areas of sourcing for information and data collection was a challenging One the materials apart from the one sourced from the internet were not easy this project is only limited to Nigeria police force and its only limited to criminal information entry it’s not intended to be implemented in a real life practice without modification

Petitioner:

A person who is seeking legal help from police station or he has some problem or complaints regarding the matters under the jurisdictition of police petitioner may or may not be the victim of offense

Victim

Victim means an individual who suffers in relation to an offence

Accused:

Accused ‘’ means a person who is charged with an offence or crime

Case

Case is the issue to be investigated by the police and resolved by the court contact
