The natural drug law enforcement agency is Nigerian’s agency that regulate and eliminates the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting and trafficking of hard drug. It is a parastatal of federal ministry of health.
NDLEA was established through decree 48 of 1989 and the decree prescribed stiffer penalties for convicted offenders section II (2a) of the decree provides a jail term of not less than 45 years for “any person who conspires with, aids, abets, councils or attempts of council” any of these offences. Though the agency was given legal instructions to operate, effective policing of drugs did not commence until 1990. Although Babangida had abolished the death penalty for convicted drug dealer, by the end of the decade there were public calls to restore it.
Stricter security measures were introduce to Lagos international airport in 1989, and a plan was instituted in august 1989 to control black market activities.
The NDLEA maintains a presence at international airport making regular seizure of hard drugs from individuals, countries, and conducts raids at seaports and border check points. efforts to eradicates cannabis cultivation focused on the destruction of isolated plant. The NDLEA has attempted to shift the focus of operations from the arrest of the countries to the prosecution of controlling members of article and money laundering organization.
Despite counter narcotic effort by NDLEA increasingly large quantities of drug pour, Nigerian’s extensive land borders was poorly managed and played by corruption, to help plot the activities it was agreed that fearless leadership was not to be comprised. Mr. Fidelis Oyakilome then a police commissioner and former governor of river state were assigned the prevailing responsibility of becoming the agencies first chairman. Although NDLEA efforts have created at least some risk that countries may be caught at the airports, trafficking networker rely increasing on buck shipments by land and sea to smuggle drug into and out of the country.
In common pretence, the agency was saddled with the responsibilities of controlling, interdicting and intercepting the trafficking peddling and usage of hard drug in public. And sensitices on the efforts of hard drugs on nations and on the people.
Government regularly agencies have over the years been identified as necessary ingredients for national development. National drug law enforcement agency as a regulatory agency was established to eradicate drug trafficking in order to safeguard public health by ensuring the eradication of drug addiction.
However, on the course of discharging these important functions, handful of problems has been encountered, ranging from unexpected drug trafficking activities, insecurity of staff, lack of cooperation from sister agency among others.
The researcher intends to establish epical evidence, proffering solution to the problem using national drug law enforcement agency.
As a project research, series of questions are needed and raised against which the research is conducted.
Therefore for a reliable work the following question will be tested.
The purpose of this study is to identify the activities and working of NDLEA as a government regulatory agency and an attempt to fasten social-economic development.
The researcher views that there are various ways in which NDLEA can help in development of the nation.

The study will help to educate the generality of the public on the relevance of government agency in fastening economic growth and development an through evocating drug abuse. It has also showed that government agency is a veritable tool and improving efficiency in public service. It is also beneficial to our student who will like to write on the topic as their reference material. It will also add to existing knowledge on government agency its relevance to building.
The scope of the study was restricted of national drug law enforcement agencies Onitsha zone (NDLEA) the target population for the study involves workers in some selected section and departments of the agency under study.
1.8 Limitations of the Study
In the course of writing and carrying out this project work, the research encountered many difficulties; some errors in the results of the research and from external sources of data collection. These are factors standing as constraints thereby limiting the effect of the research result.
Among these are, time finance , scope and use of wrong statistics in data analysis, due to time limit, the research work is a time consuming one. A lot of time is taken to observe the subjects.
Most times the behaviour of the staff changes even when they are aware that they are being observed by the researcher, this is by taking their behavior. The researcher also observed that these senior staff some time give true and false information in order to cover their branches.
At sometime the research work lasted over two months due to large scope of area of the study.

This work was organized and conducted using the electric approach, chapter one which is the introduction part it have background of the study, statement of the study, research questions and so on to organization of the study.
Then chapter two which is the literature review and theoretical framework of the research work. And also chapter three which is research methodology. Chapter four data presentation and, then chapter five summary, conclusion and recommendation of the research work.
