Estimate from the national population census (1991) revealed that women’s constitution about forty-eight percent of Nigeria population (Emezi and Ndoli 1998, pg 13) this is indicative of the proportion of women to men and socio-economic role they play in the country.
In the family, women play a range of indispensable rules, farming and seeing to the domestic well being of the family. By so doing, women contribute significantly to socio-economic and biological development to the virtual nuclear of the country generally, women are versatile gender, contributing in different ways to national development for instance, in agriculture, they perform 75% of agricultural produce (UNDP human development report from 1993) being naturally carful and shelves, they have counted their gains in business parlance, as well as in the field of medicine, Engineering etc in short in all from human endavour except perhaps in politics, they are gradually coming up in politics.
A close look into any African society will reveal overwhelming evidence of the contribution which women have made in the past upends oral traditions, swiveling religions cults and extinct political institutions all attests to the significant position women occupies in the social, economic and political evolution of the different African communities. So grate was the worth of women’s contribution to the society that a lot of communities found it justifiable to reckon genealogies along material line (Matrilineal family system) Nigerian seems to have been based with women who could found that have become large segments of the present day Nigeria, were the legendary inkpi, Norenic and Dava (associated with Igala-Land, Youruba and Hausa land). These were those who took total change of the state affairs also. 1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROLBEMS Women are appointed and elected into important positions in more developing nations such as minister, commissioners, Head services, councilors, House of Assembly, House of representatives and senate members.
In this case, due to gender inequalities that grows between African society especially in Anambra State, women participation into politics was almost impossible.
Secondly, the fear of insecurity: this instability in Nigerian security especially in Anambra democracy has made many women not partake in politics viewing it as a dirty-game

Contingency theory has been used as the analytical tool for this work because of the tenet of this theory ties with the work in question. According to stoner (1982) the task of public or business organization from a contingency perspective is to identify which technique will, in particular situation, under particular circumstances and at a particular time, best contribute to the attainment of management goals. The proponent of this theory assumes that organizations can be viewed the theory ties with the work in open system that interact with, is dependent on and seeks to control and adept to the environment.
Relating to the tenets of the role of women in development process in Anambra State, it has been seen that the participation of women in the development of any community is almost 20 to 10 percent participation due to gender inequality women has shown a great worth to the development of a community starting at their participation in politics and making awareness through mass media the need for their presence in the development building in any community
1.6 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Women have always played role in the country’s political process, current efforts are aimed at increasing women’s participation in politics and important positions as well as taking very important decisions. Hence the need for women to be included in some of the important part files where they can take important decisions that can contribute.
This research work will be of immense practical and theoretical importance. Firstly, the study will reveal to readers how women can be capable of getting to the root of problems by taking adequate and important decision that would gear towards problems solving and community development like the NCWC will benefit from its rick resource. Researchers will make resource to it as reference material. Finally policy makers and the government will benefit from the rich resources in formatting policies on women in general.

This study is based on women in development process in Anambra State with particular reference to Nnewi North L.G.A.

This limitations inherent in this study entails:- lack of fund, time contract, problem of inadequate information. The researcher resorted to fund sourcing from friends and relatives, sourced information from textbooks using the library and the internet pertaining to electricity, the researcher did or work in the day rather than night.
